Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Hormones

Written by: | Posted on: | Category:

In this episode, Jeff Gould discusses the impact that a traumatic brain injury can have on the pituitary gland, a pea sized gland at the base of the brain. The pituitary gland controls the function of most other endocrine glands and is therefore sometimes called the master gland. As Jeff explains, it has been documented that clinical depression and anxiety are common with pituitary disorders. Some patients report memory and mental confusion, anger and/or rage and even changes in a patient's overall sense and awareness of themselves.
